Borland Software Corporation November 2002 JBuilder 8 has out of the box integration with WebSphere Application Server 3.5, WebSphere Application Server Single Server edition 4.0 and WebSphere Application Server Advanced edition 4.0. Following is the layout of different editions of WebSphere available from IBM. 1. Advanced Edition 2. Standard Edition 3. Enterprise Edition Advanced edition has three different configurations. · Advanced Edition · Advanced Single Server Edition. · Advanced Developers Edition JBuilder 8 has out of the box integration with Advanced Edition 4.0, Advanced Single Server Edition 4.0 and Standard Edition 4.0. Note that JBuilder 8 doesn’t support Advanced Developers Edition. Users will be able to remote-deploy archives to any version of WebSphere using JBuilder 8, but the tight integration is available only with the three editions mentioned above. Install WebSphere® Server 4.0 Please check with IBM’s website http://www-3.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/ for installation instructions, system requirements and registration process for WebSphere Server. Configuration For this exercise, lets configure JBuilder 8 with WebSphere Advanced Edition 4.0. It is assumed that WebSphere and DB2 are already installed in E:\WebSphere and E:\SQLLIB. Start JBuilder 8, from the JBuilder menubar click Tools -> Configure Servers. Select WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition 4.0 from the left hand pane. Click Enable Server checkbox, Enter WebSphere AppServer installation directory ( i.e. E:/WebSphere/AppServer ) under Home Directory. The Main Class, VM parameters and Working Directory fields are automatically populated. Click the Class tab from the right-hand pane. This is the place where you can add the archives and JBuilder 8 will automatically add them to WebSphere’s classpath when it starts WebSphere within JBuilder 8. If you like to work with a specific database , WebSphere needs to find the database drivers for that database. The WebSphere Advanced Edition needs to be configured with DB2. Add db2java.zip from <DB2Installed_Dir>/jdbc. Note : If you like to work with web services add jaxrpc.jar from <JBuilder8_Installed_dir\lib> and make it as first jar file in the box by using the Move Up button. Click the Custom tab. The IBM JDK installation directory value should be already be there. Provide the DB2 Installed Directory name. Click the checkboxes, if you like the WebSphere Administrator’s Console and WebSphere Application Assembly Tool to appear in JBuilder’s Tool menu. |
