It's very good.
In the web application context, 1. Get the X509Certificate[] from HttpServletRequest: req.getAttribute("javax.servlet.request.X509Certificate"); 2. The first element(indexed 0) is the client cert. With this cert, you can do all the operation mentioned in the above.
Before we have java.security.cert.X509Certificate, like in java 1, there is a lib from netscape, but not quite compatible.
