What is WebMail?
WebMail is a www-frontend to IMAP/POP3 mailboxes. You can compare it to the systems Hotmail, YahooMail etc use.
It allows a user to access his mailbox via the world wide web and do most things other mail programs allow to do, even if he is not sitting on his own personal computer or corporate LAN.

Features (v0.7)

gives a user complete access to his POP3 or IMAP mailboxes via an easy-to-use web interface
neither Java nor Javascript on the Clientside
runs as Java Servlet (and Servlet 2.2 WebApp)
pluggable services (IMAP, POP3, ...) through the Java Mail API
configurable look'n'feel through templates
user configurable mailboxes: each folder may be on a different IMAP host
sophisticated folder support
support for multiple languages
MIME support: images, html- and textfiles are shown via the webbrowser (configurable), all other files may be downloaded with a click
fancy mail formatting: link highlighting, umlaut conversion, "smiley-substitution"
Very fast compared to CGI scripts
Modular concept with plugin support
Easy administration (webinterface) and installation
GNU General Public License

Who wants to use WebMail?
WebMail is intended for small to medium ISPs, but it may also be used on a standalone Homecomputer running on a Java capable platform.
Currently, WebMail also has some features for very high load servers (20000 users or more) and seems to work without much trouble.

In the next time I will present a list of systems that run with WebMail here. I want to encourage you to inform me if you run WebMail. Please provide the following information if you are interested:

Company name (and optionally link)
Approximation of users the system will serve
Operating system you use
Hardware you use
Optionally a link to the system
