SUN SERVICES RECERTIFICATION
Why is Sun implementing a Recertification Policy?
With the rapid advancements in technology and acceleration of product life cycles, it is critical that IT professional's keep their skills and product knowledge current. Sun Services has developed and implemented a recertification policy and program designed to provide IT professionals with a simple and cost-effective way to maintain and update their technical currency. Recertification helps ensure that IT professionals that carry a Sun Certification title have up to date skills and knowledge, thus keeping their potential value to employers and the value of overall certification program high.

What does Sun hope to achieve with this program?
The following are objectives for Sun's Recertification Program:

Provide a clear methodology for IT professionals to stay current with Sun certification exam offerings related to their chosen IT specialties.
Maintain the integrity and value of Sun's certifications by keeping the exams current with the associated technology and by focusing job roles on current industry practices.
Maintain communications with Sun Certified professionals to help ensure our customers' needs are addressed in certification program revisions.
Provide additional opportunities for professional growth.

How long is my certification title "good"?
Unless otherwise stated, and beginning with all Sun Certification exams taken after September 1, 2002, certification offerings from Sun Services are valid for two (2) years from the date of certification. The certification date will appear on both a certificate and an identification card with the applicable certification title. The identification card will also include an expiration date, on which an IT professional's Sun certification status expires. Sun may maintain multiple versions of any certification exam or title to meet varying global demand for title versions and to offer IT professionals flexible certification options. Sun reserves the right to retire specific Sun certification exams or titles for any reason and at any time. Sun's recertification policy and program are subject to change without notice.
