为什么这么多的人说thinking in java不是初心者教材呢?学完了这个教材,可能对java才刚刚有点感觉,但是很多很多的高级特征都不知道,thinking in java的特点(我感觉)是对某一点上的语言特征,用很多例子分析的很透彻,(比如讲变量的初始化那一节),thinking in java后半部分可以说对java的一些方面都开了一点点头.

如果稍微学过c或c++(不必是大牛,只要懂的一点意思,一点语法),那么要学java,完全可以直接从thinking in java 开始.

就算是超级初心者,直接看thinking in java也未尝不可.

刚开始学java，英语好的话看官方可以下载的java tutorial。同时或者随后看thinking in java。
有了这个基础之后，再学习j2ee。这时同样可以到官方下载j2ee tutorail。之后就基本上可以做项目了。
做了些项目之后，会有些疑惑和思考，这个时候再看些比较深入讲解j2ee的书籍和模式方面的。

是Java入门很好的教材

几乎与《Thinking in Java》齐名

开来讨论最多的应该是think in java 这本书了，我学了很多种编程，不是我什么都喜欢尝试，是学校非要教的，我也没办法，现在是什么也知道那么一点点，可没一样能拿得出手的，我想从JAVA入手，扎扎实实的学好一门语言。想来应该买think in java就不错了，同学也推荐的，现在来说，买第几版的好些？有必要非得英文的吗？因为最近还有应付考试，而我英文不是很好，看起来会慢很多，在这里问一下。
最主要是买第几版的，因为现在好像三版的也出了，请指教。

Third edition, of course. Second edition is okay if it is well discounted.
You could read a hardcopy in Chinese and the free electronic copy in English together.
Don't bother to learn the new stuff in Java 1.5 until you've got the basics.

我们的老师出的,刘甲耀教授和严桂兰教授两夫妇出的

1）我认为刚开始先有个感性认识
最好的办法就是先做实验----简单一些的，经典的例题。做完后在加上一些自己的东西，再看理论，在作实验，再修改自己的程序。
2）多实践
自己感觉有了一定的感性认识，再系统的学通一本基础书，再看别人编的程序，进行修改超越。
3）多训练思维方式。

有不对的地方，请各位批评。

其实，我认为i多看点书，互相比较就行了，再不行下点视频教学的东东看看，相信也会有收获，到最后仔细的看一本比较经典的书，比方说thinking in java

对于以前学过c/c++的java初学者，个人觉得《thinking in java》（java编程思想，bruceeckel著，机械工业出版社出版）是个不错的选择。
再到www.infox.com上下载一个j2seAPI，再配合其它书籍就可以了。
ps：本人也是初学者。

另外可以参考《设计模式》，讲java编程规范的，还有一本好像叫java2核心思想的。
